VfB Stuttgart secured the Bundesliga class maintenance in a highly dramatic way. When the home game against 1. FC Köln whistled and won 2-1, many fans no longer kept in their stands – several thousand stormed on the pitch.
“A 48-year-old is said to have hit a previously unknown man to the ground, whereupon he remained unconscious on the ground,” the police reported on Sunday. A suspect was arrested, the injured person was taken to the hospital. Overall, according to the police, “several medical emergencies” occurred during the storm.
Far before the game, “hooded alleged VfB fans” on the Mercedesstraße tried to attack supporters of 1. FC Köln, the statement continues. “Several police forces separated the fan camps” even using the pepper spray and “temporarily determined a 23-year-old on site”. Later, two guest trailers were beaten by “unknown alleged VfB fans” and robbed of a scarf and a jacket.
